Farnborough Airshow announces orders surge worth $28.8bn to UK

Farnborough proved a great success this year for the UK aerospace industry in general with aircraft and engine deals close to record levels ($28.8bn in value and the second most successful show ever) as the global sector continues to see sustained high demand.

Formally opened by Theresa May, announcements by the PM and senior cabinet ministers in the early days of the show included R&D and innovation projects worth £343m, a new Combat Air Strategy, and the site of a new UK spaceport in Sutherland as well as development funding for horizontal launch sites in Cornwall, Wales and Prestwick.

As an exclusive partner to numerous Aerospace companies, including specialist SME’s, Catapult Centres,  and international organisations, Consilium were actively involved as always meeting new as well as long-term clients.

All in, this is a great time for UK aerospace and defence manufacturing, with plenty of opportunities for advanced manufacturing and engineering professionals, whether you already work within this sector or are seeking a move for the first time.
